General Information

Where is Bison Peak Lodge located?

Bison Peak Lodge is located in Lake George, Colorado—at the literal heart of the state, where Colorado’s diagonal lines intersect —just 90 miles from Denver and 60 miles from Colorado Springs and Breckenridge. Nestled at 9,000 feet above sea level and surrounded by 100,000s of acres of wilderness, our 37-acre retreat offers seclusion, serenity, and stunning alpine beauty. Despite the feeling of complete immersion in nature, we're remarkably accessible year-round.

More than a venue, Bison Peak Lodge is a mission-based wilderness sanctuary. We offer immersive mountain experiences wrapped in rustic elegance. Our 37-acre property borders over 500,000 acres of National Forest and the Lost Creek Wilderness, providing unmatched access to raw, awe-inspiring nature. "Glamping" merges glamour and camping—offering immersive outdoor stays with luxurious comforts. At Bison Peak Lodge, our glamping village includes heated mattress pads, plush bedding, electricity, curated furnishings, and access to high-end heated restroom trailers. Choose from domes, tipis, conestoga wagons, and tents, each a sanctuary under the stars.

  • Spring: 40s–60s°F, snowmelt, budding wildflowers.
  • Summer: 60s–80s°F, dry days, cool nights.
  • Fall: 30s–70s°F, crisp air, golden aspens.

We recommend packing in layers: warm base layers, a waterproof outer shell, insulated jackets, sturdy hiking boots, gloves, and a beanie—even in summer. Nights are cool year-round at 9,600 feet, so cozy attire is essential. Bring sun protection (hat, sunglasses, SPF), a refillable water bottle, and headlamps or flashlights for glamping guests. We’ll provide bedding, firewood, and toiletries—just come ready to unplug, explore, and embrace the elements.

Your safety is our top priority. In the rare event that severe weather—such as a major snowstorm, wildfire risk, or road closure—renders the property inaccessible or unsafe, we will work with you to reschedule your stay or issue a credit toward future dates within one year. Due to our remote wilderness location, we encourage guests to monitor weather forecasts closely and prepare accordingly. Our team is always available to offer guidance before and during your stay.

Due to our surrounding wildlife and protected ecosystem, we only allow certified service animals on property.
